Sand Casting

Vendosmart’s sand casting service vendors use state-of-the-art equipment, tools to produce top notch metal parts/components from non-ferrous as well as ferrous alloys.

To satisfy the buyer’s (your) requirement and expectations, they also perform the rework processes on the moulded parts such as surface treatment, finish machining, heat treatment and other types.

What is

Sand Casting?

As the name suggests, it is a type of cast-manufacturing which involves the use of sand to create a mould. The sand casting process gets used to manufacturing products that are of complex shapes and sizes.

The sand casting process involves the use of a mould pattern, gate system, cope, drag and molten metal to produce an end product. The main reasons for big industries preferring sand casting are:

Types of

Sand Casting Processes

There are various types of sand casting processes around the globe. The vendors in our buyer list can provide every type of sand casting service. But on this web page, we have focused on only the prominent types in India:

Green Sand Casting

Please do not get confused with the term “green.” There is no green sand, but the process refers to the use of moist sand to produce the moulds.

No Bake sand casting

Using the chemical binders to hold the moulding sand. Though this process is a complex one, our vendors have the resources to prepare moulds as per your need. This process is also known as air set casting.

Co2 sand casting process

The specified mould sand gets mixed with NaSi (or sodium silicate). The end product – silica gel component as per the need.

Shell Mould Casting

The end product is prepared from molten metal and a sand-resin mixture.

Our vendors make use of the recent technology software, equipment and tools to work on various metals and materials such as copper, magnesium, iron, brass, aluminum, bronze etc. If needed, they use the magma solidification software to eradicate porosity in the component. Please note, the various sand casting processes can be used to produce components of different levels (MOQ and large scale), weights, complex shapes and sizes.

The other methods used to check the quality of a component before delivery include – macroscopic/microscopic analysis, sand testing policy and X-ray diffraction analysis to ensure the buyer’s engineering specifications. The other types of testing that are used may be (not limited to):

How is the Component Produced?

Many components in sand casting get produced by the core method. To describe a core, it is a sand insert which gets placed in the mould so that the interior gets designed to create specific hollow spaces. Please note, Vendosmart vendors have fulfilled thousands of client requirements by making use of this method.

But they will need some assistance from the buyer side. Their technical team will need precise drawings and perfect measures of shape and size. Then, they will use the recent CNC machine to prepare the accurate product by making use of Co2 or shell sand casting process.

When does Rework happen in the Sand Casting Process?

As the process involves the use of sand, usually the end product can come with a coarse surface. However, our vendors make use of the finish machine to smoothen the surface and achieve the right shape and size. If needed, our vendors also offer additional services such as plating, polishing, painting as well as coating. Our vendors are also skilled in manufacturing components (via sand casting processes) that are needed in the assembly work of major industries.

Our vendors offer unlimited solutions in manufacturing the required product as per your needs when it comes to making use of the sand casting process. Get registered for free as a buyer on our website and find/hire the right sand casting service provider in India for your requirement.
